Character Info

◎ Character's Name: King
◎ Character's Canon: Final Fantasy: Type-0 (PSP)
◎ Character's Age: 17
◎ Canon Point: Beginning of Chapter 5 and before the reclamation of Eibon.
◎ Background/History: Regular wiki & Final Fantasy Wikia & King's Wiki page
◎ Is the character a hacker and/or do they have a sixth-sense? Not unless you count his ability to help his friends out when they're in trouble (see Nine about to get into a fight with a soldier from an enemy kingdom) and doubtful on his being a hacker, but he's not stupid about communications devices at least!

◎ Personality:
Stoic and reserved, King isn't exactly what you'd call the life of the party. A trained military cadet for the Suzaku Peristylium, his entire personality is shaped around the idea and image of a good soldier. With a cool and collected front, there seems to be little that can set King off, or make him react for that matter- which makes him difficult to read and a somewhat dangerous presence to anyone that makes the mistake of being an enemy around them. Being dedicated to his orders and dedicated to his missions, King is the kind of guy who will see things through to the very end- and with little complaint or comment. This level-headedness serves as a sight of encouragement to his peers, who see him as a strong and composed person with little room for error.

Breaking away from what everyone else thinks of him, though, reveals a far different personality than what people expect- which shouldn't come as a surprise (it's always the quiet ones!) though in King's case, it only serves to support the attitude he carries and displays to the world. While he may be seen as someone who is difficult to read with no other thoughts except for following and obeying orders, King is anything but- though not in a negative way. King's personality stems from wanting to maintain a level head in the toughest of situations, as well as to be able to protect his peers from any danger that may befall them. Not only does he serve as a good leading presence, though he may not necessarily take that role without actually being commanded to, he still knows when to step in and take control while trying to minimize as much damage as possible. In that vein, King is a very thoughtful and concerned personality, whose only motivation is to keep people safe and protect the weak. It is seen in the way he strives to keep himself on top of his training, and doesn't actually indulge in unnecessary conversation- though when he does speak, it is without any rudeness, but with a blunt and direct manner that gets his point across.

Limited of words he may be, however, but when he does speak, you can bet he'll be present and speaking according to the situation. King is collected, which makes whatever he says relevant to the subjects at hand- and no more than that. It's a sign of a good soldier, however, where he won't be saying anything more than necessary to get his point across. He won't be careless and possesses a great deal of common sense which allows him to deal with his enemies without any fear or provocation- if anything, the only fear he'd have is losing his comrades, by which it would mean he didn't succeed in protecting them. He also possesses a rather discerning eye, where he will make a note of his suspicions and carefully watch those around him as well as those that are enemies for any movements that may endanger them. This is seen in him outwardly threatening one of the supposed messengers in the perystilium, who immediately reacts with fear and attempts to confirm his identity- and just as King rightfully suspects (though allowing him to walk free at that point) it is revealed that he was a spy from an enemy kingdom, leaking information to them about their movements.

While this might reveal a bit of a naive side to him, King is the kind of person who just wants to minimize trouble where he doesn't have to have it. In that, it's seen that he's kind and perhaps hopeful that there don't need to be deaths to accomplish a goal- however, once commanded, he acts accordingly and makes his decisions on his feet to ensure a successful outcome. Thankfully, perhaps, he doesn't do it in cold blood- or with any enjoyment of it. If he questions his actions and morals, it's only with a reminder of the fact that people fall in the line of duty, and they live in a world of war. His ability to be as calm as he is does make him look cold and distant to his peers, but there is kindness in the fact that he wishes to simply keep everyone safe.

The attention he does seem to provoke from his peers doesn't necessarily fall into negativity, however. As revealed in the Crimson Codex, in a journal entry narrated by him, he questions on the fact that he is considered "The Cool Guy" of their group, a remark that leaves both him- and his classmate Nine, questioning why. King goes further into elaboration, explaining that he doesn't do anything out of the ordinary except for wield dual guns that aren't even as good weapons as another classmate with better weapons in her arsenal. He states his thoughts both in a straightforward, and somewhat bluntly thoughtful manner, where he elaborates that using guns might seem like a lazy way to kill and is just simply efficient- and then wonders if it's so bad to be efficient just because he wants to be able to protect his friends. He speaks with reasoning and consideration when he must, though when he's blunt, it's not without having examined all sides of the story before expressing his views.

His support and protectiveness of his friends further shows in the case of Nine, who is practically the wild animal of their class. When Nine gets provoked by an enemy soldier while they're in enemy land during an armistice, he first shuts Nine down firmly (and without any rudeness) before calmly turning the enemy soldier's words back on him- and it is perhaps his cool delivery and calm, unfettered attitude that aggravates and annoys the soldier the most, especially with him being unable to react or respond in kind. While Nine usually gets talked down to or outright insulted by fellow "smarter" folk such as Queen or Quon, King doesn't take any preconceptions of people into how he deals with them. What they are is what they are, and he faces them as they are with him. He doesn't bring in any sort of personal bias into his attitude, dealing with his comrades in a straightforward and direct manner, while calmly undoing the damage if it needs it. If a situation doesn't need his input from what he can see, he won't interfere- and in this we see that he is a person willing to respect boundaries, where they need to be.

Of course, this doesn't mean he won't have his own bursts of impulsiveness, and once again, his ability to think on his feet will prove that he makes his moves with quick-thinking and calm, but also with the urgency that a situation requires. Despite his very focused and orderly attitude, he is also a teenage boy beneath it, and for all his sense of responsibilty, he is also shown to be soft-hearted towards a pet cactuar that he keeps in his room (a cactus like sentient creature) and is said to care for it a lot. In Final Fantasy Agito, he is also revealed to have an interest in the porn that is kept with his fellow classmate Jack (said with his completely serious expression)- and he's also seen yawning and distracted during class- not exactly in defiance of authority, but in simply being human and wanting to fill his time with something more stimulating. Despite being a model student by appearance and reputation, he is very casual in his style of dress, even with his uniform, and while he seems imposing, he carries himself with a relaxed appearance that suggests confidence- or perhaps, a slight disrespect for rules without really meaning to be. He can also be a little bit of a sarcastic person, as seen when his own kindness towards a class assistant who was too shy to speak up initially (or so he thought) blows up in his face, with him groaning and saying he knew this would happen, somehow. He is also seen to be part of a band in one particular ending (where there is no war for him to be a soldier in), which shows that not all his interests are geared towards militaristic pursuits alone if they don't have to be. He does have the capabilty to do more that interests him, however, as mentioned before, he remains true to the needs of the present, and acts fully in accordance with them.

This sense of focus and dedication is why he is also shown being given the position of team leader by Kurasame in the prequel novel, together with their other level-headed classmate Seven, who is picked because she matches King in her level-headedness and inability to be distracted easily from a task at hand. He continues to carry his beliefs and his role as a protector all the way through the game, and though his presence isn't quite as powerful or loud as most people in his position would be, King shows that with a solid and dedicated attitude, they can accomplish whatever they set out to do without losing their will and focus. He is also seen to want to be a cop once he leaves school, which further elaborates on how seriously he is dedicated to his own beliefs of protecting everyone. He aims, just like his classmates, to become the Agito who will help prevent Finis, a task he has known and accepted for a while, and if it comes down to it, he will happily lay down his life in the service of his friends and the people who cannot protect themselves- and the world, that he considers a home worth saving..

◎ Powers/Abilities:
King's abilities come from his proficiency in handling handguns- regular ones, that don't really pack much power on their own but can be enhanced depending on the model he uses. He also has low stats in power (due to the use of guns that usually won't make 9999 point hits and that he needs to reload as they run ou), but he's shown to be able to dodge and cancel his attacks while using his guns and manage to throw off his opponents with powerful physical attacks- mostly kicks His support magic and fire magic affinity is also low and he actually has to focus and take aim compared to his fellow gun-user Cater who uses magic-based bullets with homing abilities, but he compensates for it in having great range of movement and attack. While he can have all the passive abilities listed here active at a time, I'll be having him come in with a few only to potentially grow over time?

His abilities come in the form of attack-enhancers or the ability to reload a larger number of bullets from his magazines (idk there must be a pocket dimension in there) so, if possible, he'll be coming in with these abilities active/equipped:

( Passive )*
- Normal attack/kick attack
Libra: ability to see the stats/etc of his enemy and element weaknesses and the like. (initial ability)
Reload Marksmanship: Capable of firing his gun while reloading (upgraded initial ability)
Ammunition Up: Instead of 12 bullets at a time, he'll fire 18 (upgraded initial ability)
Triple Evasion: Evade an attack thrice automatically (upgraded ability)

*- as in he doesn't need to activate them and they only give him a minor advantage in using his guns, they don't need to be equipped and are achieved by leveling up and unlocking them - seeing as it's possible to get your character to level 50 by chapter 5, he'll have unlocked them by then (Level 45 by my game).

( Active - That he needs to focus on )
Powered Bullet (Charge Level 2): Bullet's damage can be increased by charging it up and is a powerful close-range attack. (upgraded initial ability)
Magazine Bomb: He can throw his magazine to make it explode
Blizzard ROK (Magic) - A mid-range projectile attack that shoots ice at the enemy

( Only two active abilities can be equipped at a time, so one ability will not be used from the active list. )

( Defense )
Wall: Creates a wall-like shield to temporarily protect allies from oncoming attacks.
Invisible: Makes the person invisible temporarily

( Only one defensive ability can be used at a time )

( Summon )
Eidolon Summon - Bahamut K (No need to equip them, but summoning kills a character upon summoning if used during a mission, and a summoned eidolon can be active for 30 seconds a time- it's explained in-game that Arecia, the headmistress, can revive the characters after using summons, which is why they can return to life post-battle. If something like this can be worked in, great, and feel free to remove/reduce abilities as needed. )

◎ Weapons & Other Special Inventory:
1) A pair of his guns ("Mythril Bursts")
2) His COMM device
3) Silver Ring accessory
4) Silver Bangle accessory
5) His pet cactuar (it's a little cactus) in a pot
6) His ammo magazine (It has some kind of pocket dimension because of the ammo replenishing)
7) A book on the History of Orience that he forgot to return to the library...

CEREALIA-Specific

◎ Element: I seriously cannot decide, you'd think it was fire but he's weakest in fire so ice TT__TT
◎ Sense: Sight - He uses guns, so this is ridiculously important to him- without them he can't exactly fight, doubly so because unlike his comrades, he actually has to aim and his bullets won't magically home in on the enemy.
◎ Seven Character Traits:
+ Positive Kind, Dedicated, Focused
- Negative Taciturn, Unmotivated until he absolutely has to take charge, Blunt
= Neutral Quick-Thinking

[ There's little to say that hasn't already been said about this place, which is why he's just going to come out and say something that he is certain no one else will have asked before- because if they did, he wouldn't ask this here.. ]

Who here knows how to handle desert plants that are also animals?

[ He's willing to explain, since he's well aware that saying that he has a cactuar isn't exactly going to make much sense to people from different universes- but if they're not asking, it's not exactly necessary, is it. ]

I have a pet that needs some assistance and I haven't seen many options for outdoor acitvity here. You'd think they'd be able to pull out a few other animals from the "Code" they claimed we were brought in from, if one could make it.

[ Which... well. Is necessary for a creature like this. He keeps his expression firm, though despite the scary look, he is sincerely trying to request for some help. ]

... and if no one knows, then I'm in a bit of a bind. I don't want it dying after all this effort.

[ He's already considering options, but if anyone is smarter than him on the subject here, he really would like to know, like... now. ]

I'll appreciate any assistance, all the same... preferably before my classmate decides to use it as a weapon.

[ And he'll just leave it at that. ]

◎ Third-Person Sample:
The rain was coming down too fast- though it didn't make the journey any more worse than it already had been. With the rumors that were beginning to circulate around the Peristylium, it was a little strange to cast a complete blind eye to the situation they'd been facing at hand- though he found that the lesser he thought on it, the better things would be. For now, heading up towards the training grounds on the outer section of the Perystilium seemed like a better option than sitting around listening to the others complain about how unfair it was that they were being accused of a crime they wouldn't fathom commiting... he knows they, and of course, himself, never would. But this is politics, and if there's one thing King is very well aware of- it's that when it comes to that- nothing is spared. No dignity, no heroes.

Not that he would ever actually consider himself one- he's just a soldier, just someone doing the tasks outlined to him by those that assisted them. In their case- that points to one person, Mother, or their rather elusive Dr. Arecia, who is about as shrouded in mystery as the rest of their intentions.

But she's allowed as much as he is... not that there is much for him to reveal about himself. He is who he is...
